In short
Your licence is what lets Reseller OS open. It is bound to the computer you activate it on (one machine on a standard licence, more on a licence with a higher device limit), it is checked with the licence server in the background, and it never touches your data. Everything you can see or do with it lives in Settings, License, apart from the activation screen on first launch and the two lock screens described further down.
